My name is Elizabeth Romero, and I’d like to share my story. When the economy took a downturn, I lost my job. As a single mother of three teenagers, things became incredibly difficult. I struggled to provide basic necessities like backpacks, school clothes, and bus passes for my two oldest children, who relied on public transit to get to school.

Helping Heroes of the World stepped in when we needed it most. They provided groceries for my family and made sure my kids had the school supplies they needed, including bus passes for my teens. They even assisted me with job placement and gave me a gas voucher so I could get to work until I received my first paycheck.

Helping Heroes of the World supported my family during some of our toughest times. Their kindness and generosity gave us hope and helped us get back on our feet. Thanks to them, we are now doing well, and we are deeply grateful. The Romero family will always remember Helping Heroes of the World and everything they stand for.

Thank you—we appreciate and love you all!

Making a Difference

Our charity has been dedicated to supporting heroes around the world who selflessly serve their communities. Through your donations, we are able to provide essential resources and assistance to those in need.

When my mother was first diagnosed with diabetes, we had no idea how complicated managing her healthcare could become. After a simple mistake with her healthcare provider, my mother suddenly ran out of her life-sustaining insulin. She was left with no more medication samples, and we found ourselves tangled in the difficult maze of prescriptions, documents, and the complexities of Medicare—an overwhelming burden for anyone, let alone my mother at 79 years old.

Just when things seemed most hopeless, Helping Heroes of the World stepped in with open arms and compassionate hearts. The team at H.H.W. spoke patiently and persistently with Medicare and her healthcare provider, not just once, but several times. They never gave up on our situation—they helped gather all the necessary paperwork and prescriptions, and most importantly, helped my mother understand what was happening with her own health. That sense of clarity, patience, and genuine care made all the difference, especially as my mother was feeling anxious and powerless.

Recognizing how urgently my mother needed her medication, Helping Heroes of the World did more than just provide guidance—they purchased an entire month’s supply of insulin and other essential medications, ensuring my mother would not go without what she needed. They did all this while working behind the scenes to get her healthcare insurance and providers to coordinate her care properly, so she wouldn’t face this crisis again.

What stood out to us was the dignity with which we were treated. At no point did we feel judged, belittled, or shamed for the confusion we felt—only supported and respected. The kindness we received was genuine, and the help was offered without conditions or hesitation.

As a family, we are forever grateful for the care, compassion, and determination of Helping Heroes of the World. They embody what it means to truly serve others, and I will always remember their kindness during such a vulnerable time in our lives.

With sincere gratitude,

Empowering Change

Every contribution, no matter how big or small, plays such an important role in helping us reach our goals. Your support enables us to continue our mission and make a meaningful, positive impact in the lives of individuals and families who are in need of hope and a fresh start.

This is my testimony. Hi I'm Cheyenne Davenport, and I’d like to share my story — one that I hope will shine a light for anyone out there feeling trapped or afraid, and to show the incredible change that Helping Heroes of the World can make.

Not long ago, my life was clouded by fear and uncertainty. I was in an abusive relationship with my soon-to-be ex-husband. We had left our home in Canada and traveled far, following my husband’s new employment opportunity. At first, I hoped that a new city might offer a fresh beginning for us, but the opposite happened. The relationship became increasingly toxic and physically and mentally abusive, even in front of our children. It became painfully clear that I needed to find a way out, for the sake of my kids and myself — and I needed to do it quickly.

It was during one of my lowest moments, while trying to distract myself at the grocery store, that I stumbled upon a flyer for Helping Heroes of the World. It felt almost like a sign. Desperate but determined, I called the number on that flyer and explained my situation. The kind person on the other end listened with genuine empathy — it was the first time in a long time that I felt truly heard and believed.

The team at Helping Heroes of the World helped me create a careful plan to get my children and myself to safety. They arranged to pick us up quietly while my husband was at work, and placed us in a safe hotel for several days. Those days allowed me to breathe, gather my thoughts, and figure out our next steps without the oppression of fear hanging over us. For the first time, I had the space to consider what was truly best for my children and myself.

After reaching a decision, I called Helping Heroes of the World again. Without hesitation, they took care of everything — they paid for our plane tickets back to Canada, so we could return safely to my parents’ home in Toronto. That flight was more than a way home — it was a passage into a new chapter, free from the shadow of abuse.

Truly, if it wasn’t for Helping Heroes of the World, my daughters and I would still be trapped in a terrible situation. Their support helped us reclaim our independence and our dignity. To any woman who finds herself in a similar situation: Please, don’t wait or hope things will improve on their own. You deserve safety, respect, and love, and there are people and organizations ready to help you.

Since returning to Canada, my daughters and I have begun to heal, rebuilding our lives step by step. I have a new job, and the girls and I have our own place now. We laugh, we dream, and we look forward to the future together. Out of gratitude for the help I received, I support Helping Heroes of the World every year, so that other women and families can find the same sanctuary and fresh start that we did.

Helping Heroes of the World truly saved my family. We carry your kindness in our hearts, and we will never forget all the love and support we received.

With so much love and endless gratitude,
Cheyenne Davenport
